Resurrection Rolls

This is a unique Easter devotion that you can share with your families. Make Resurrection Rolls! There is a “surprise” ending which is just as much fun as the rolls are delicious.

You need:

a package of large marshmallows

a package of crescent roll dough

cinnamon, sugar, and spray margarine

Combine in a bowl or a shallow pan, one cup of sugar with three teaspoons of cinnamon. Heat your oven to 350 degrees and spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray (lightly oil and flour).

Now you are ready to begin the story.

  • Each person takes a marshmallow, which represents Jesus’ body.

  • Spray some margarine on the body remembering the oils that would have been used to anoint his body for burial.

  • Sprinkle some cinnamon on the oiled body or dip in the cinnamon and sugar mixture, remembering the spices that would have been applied to His body.

  • Now place the body on a section of the crescent roll dough and roll it up carefully, pinching all the edges so the body is completely sealed inside. This represents the cloths that Jesus was wrapped in when laid to rest in the tomb.

  • Spray some more margarine (oils again) on the body and roll in the cinnamon and sugar mixture (spices) and place on the cookie sheet.

  • Place the cookie sheet in the oven, which represents the tomb and set the time for the amount of time indicated on the crescent roll package (about 12 minutes).Stand guard outside the tomb to make sure no one can steal the body away while you wait.

  • When the time is up, remove the cookie sheet from the oven and wait for them to cool.

Break open one of the rolls and look inside.

The body is gone.
Jesus has risen!

Now enjoy the Resurrection Rolls He has left for you!
